Goblin Regatta:  

October 27th and 28th 2012

1 Host and Organizing Authority

The regatta is hosted and organized by the Santa Barbara Sailing Club.

2 Rules

This regatta shall be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 (RRS), and those of participating classes, except any of those as altered by the Sailing Instructions.

3 Eligibility

This regatta is open to all one designs, Laser, Laser Radial, J24, Melges 24 , Formula 18, and PHRF classes. All other one design classes are welcome to compete. A minimum of 2 boats is required to establish a class and receive a start and trophies. On-site registration will be available.
All PHRF yachts are eligible. Area Buoy handicaps will be used. PHRF handicap ratings will be applied per PHRF certificate or by listing if not certified. Valid rating certificate must be presented, or on file with SBSC.
Entrants must be current members in good standing in their respective class, and members of a US Sailing recognized sailing club or yacht club.

6 Sailing Instructions
Sailing instructions will be available at www.sailsbsc.org one week prior to the event and at registration. There will be separate sailing instructions for each race course

7 Racing Area and Course

The race will be held off the breakwater of Santa Barbara. The course(s) to be sailed will be Windward-Leeward and variations thereof as described in the sailing instructions.

8 Scoring

The Goblin Regatta will be scored using the RRS Appendix A low point system, except all races shall be counted until a eighth race is completed.

9 Prizes

Trophies will be awarded based on the number of entries as follows:

10 Social Event

Saturday 10-30: 
  • Dinner will be available in the SBSC yard for $10 which will include one non alcoholic beverage.

  • Additional refreshments available for purchase with drink tickets. Drink tickets have a value of $2.50
    • Water or soft drink $1.25
    • Beer $3.00
    • Margarita or wine $5.00

  • Refreshments available for sale, snacks and awards program at the SBSC yard starting at 1600.

11 Mooring / Storage

Mooring is available on a first come first served basis in the Santa Barbara Harbor. Fees apply. The harbor is undergoing construction and visitor slips are very limited. 
Storage is available on a first come, first served basis beginning Friday 10-26. The city has overnight parking for boats on trailers at harbor boat launch. Competitors are responsible for any associated fees.

12 Location of Onshore Events

Registration, skipper's meeting, dinner, and awards will be held in the SBSC facility.
