For 58 years, SBSC has been a collection of boaters on the Santa Barbara Channel.  We are a no-frills, get-out-on-the-water, sail hard group.  With year-round sailing, our mission of providing affordable access to the water for active sailors has never been hard to accomplish, and generations of committed volunteers have helped steer the club to where it is today.  Our members are one-design racers, PHRF racers, dinghy sailors, cruisers, and day sailors with a common love of boats that has brought us together.

In 2017, SBSC’s signature events will include the Cinco de Mayo Regatta, May 6th-7th, and the Goblin Regatta, Oct. 28th-29th, and we hope to get over 50 boats at each of these around-the-buoys regattas.  We will co-host the Hardway Race, May 20th, with Pierpont Bay Yacht club, which starts in Santa Barbara, races around 1-2 Channel Islands, and finishes in Ventura.  We will also co-host the Goleta Beach regatta with the Santa Barbara Yacht club, as well as several other regattas and dinghy races listed on our race calendar.  Our social events will be immediately before or after each race event, as well as a monthly BBQ in the yard on the first Wednesday of each month following SBYC’s Wet Wednesday races starting in April.  Drinks and food will be available with great company.

In 2016, my crew on Young Fools and I were out on the water more than 50 days each, and I know other members were even more active.  I hope the club continues the trend of industrious yachting through 2017 and beyond.

Further information is available on our website (www.sailsbsc.org), including a list of our officers and board members, whom all deserve our gratitude for their hard work throughout the year.

Fair sailing,
