The Santa Barbara Sailing Club in conjunction with the Catalina Cruising Club will be having a Summer Finale Cruise to Santa Cruz Island's Pelican Cove plus the Nature Conservancy Tour of the Stanton Ranch. The dates are Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 (Fri - Sun) as outlined on this schedule. This will be a very fun event with a rare chance to visit parts of the island that are usually off-limits. Please note, if you would like to be a part of the Nature Conservancy Tour of the Stanton Ranch on Saturday Oct. 1st, it is imperative that each person (all crew memebers) fill out, sign, and return the liability release waiver no later than Sept. 15th. If you would like to attend but don't have access to an island ready boat, we will do our best to accommodate you on another club members boat. Thanks to Morgan Green for arranging this trip including the Nature Conservancy Tour. Skippers please contact Morgan by Sept. 15th to confirm that you are going on the cruise. If you have any questions please contact Morgan @ 687-5793 or Chris Knudson @ 450-0819. |

Racing Rules Refresher!!!!
Well its time for another mid-week class on something about sailing. As the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing are out we thought that a rules review would be a timely topic. To this
end we were very fortunate to have Bill Lannan offer to instruct this refresher class. Bill plans on emphasizing the most common situations encountered on the race course; starting, rounding marks, proper course, and establishing overlaps. The class will
be held Thursday June 16th at the Maritime Museum Community Room
from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Class is free and open to all racing enthusiasts.
Remember that understanding the rules is not the responsibility
of one crew member but all crew members in order for safe, fun racing so I very much hope to see not just skippers at the class but entire crews. |
